A rare 53-pound alligator snapping turtle is recovering at a Houston wildlife rehabilitation center after fire-rescue crews saved it from a drainage pipe Tuesday.
The surviving alligator snapping turtle was transported on Houston SPCA’s 24-hour injured animal rescue ambulance to the Wildlife Center of Texas where it will be medically evaluated and treated.
The animal was found in a pipe and carried fie animal care center to receive the necessary attention.
According to the Yahoo site, “This guy in the photos specifically weighs 24 kilograms and has been rescued from a pipe near the residential area of Hockley, about 55 kilometers from Houston, Texas.”
The turtle will be released when he recovers from injuries caused him to be trapped in the pipeline.
