An international team of 56 researchers in five countries has confirmed a hypothesis first proposed by the ancient Greeks.

That different diseases are characterized by different “chemical signatures” identifiable in breath samples.

This was proven by the team led by Professor Hossam Haick of the Technion-Israel Institute of Technology Wolfson Faculty of Chemical Engineering.

And Russell Berrie Nanotechnology Institute Haick and his team have developed the Na-Nose that can detect 17 different diseases including cancer from the breath and are developing Sniffphone for disease detection through a Smartphone.
