Dr. Therdchai Created An Artificial Leg For This Elephant Who Lost His Leg In A Land Mine..

When Mosha, an elephant, was two years old, she lost her leg in a landmine injury along the Thai-Burmese border. Luckily, an orthopedic surgeon was able to fit her with the first prosthetic leg ever designed for an elephant. As she’s grown, she’s needed to be fitted for new ones. But she’s never forgotten the doctor who changed her life.

After that, it seemed impossible for her to live a normal life, but a kindhearted doctor in Lampang, Thailand, stepped in and changed all of that for her.

The First Elephant Prosthetics

Dr. Therdchai Jivacate, a Thai orthopedist who helped design prosthetic limbs for the elephants, said they could not survive without them.

The Thai Elephant Conservation Center estimates that there are 2,000 to 3,000 elephants living in the wild in Thailand and about 2,700 domesticated ones.
