THE oldest taxidermy business in New York City has opened the doors to its bizarre $38,000 collection of stuffed bears, lions and goats.
The 62-year-old’s vast collection includes the 600lb bear, 100-year-old goat and the $12,000 lion. The Cypress Hills Taxidermy Studio owner can charge anywhere from $400 for a deer to $2,000 for a full bear that normally takes up to a year to finish.
When Youngaitis’ father, Victor, opened the studio in 1958, he’d rake in big bucks stuffing and mounting about 80 deer heads each hunting season.
He also cleans and repairs old deer heads, which have become a trendy wall decoration in urban homes.
