Following the original success of 3D printed custom prosthetics for Derby the Dog late last year, 3D Systems team members have continued research to allow Derby to walk with a straight back. He can now sit like a real dog!

Even this adorable dog, which was born without front legs, is able to benefit from the innovations.

It’s not about corrective surgery, or a holistic solution. For this pup, it’s really more about improving day-to-day life. And doesn’t it just make you feel all warm and fuzzy?

What I find most interesting is that the subject (Derby) can’t speak and explain what’s right/wrong about each iteration, so the process really takes some smart analysis and intelligent redesigning. I’m also impressed by the dog’s ability to learn and adapt to the prosthetic legs.(/MisterAlex) – youtube.
