Workers at an oil camp in North Dakota made a remarkable recording of a tornado as it carved out a direct path to where they were standing. Amazingly, the tornado stopped dead in its tracks and fizzled just as it reached the men, who were taking refuge in a vehicle.
Yes, these guys were there to see the birth of one of nature’s most dangerous phenomena, but as epic as it looks I have to say I wouldn’t switch places with them, not in a million years. Oh my goodness, that was so scary.
Props to them for laughing in the face of imminent danger but judging by the language, I’m sure that was just their nerves. If you never saw the creation of a tornado up close, you’ll enjoy this.
We were afraid for our lives, so, yes, we swore. A lot. You have been warned!Three tornadoes were reported on that day, nine people were injured and one is in critical condition. Rescue crews are searching through debris at the camp today, which is located 5 miles south of Watford City.
The storm system that produced this damaging tornado also dropped hail and heavy rain. The National Weather service is investigating reports of as many as three possible tornadoes–although those may be multiple touchdowns of the same funnel cloud.
