The Russian Sleep Experiment-The Most Terrifying Human Experiment Ever Performed?

You’ve probably heard of the scientists conducting weird and inhumane tests on subjects before, but what this group of doctors conducted in the 1940s really crossed a line. The following is a story so terrifying, many are left saying: That can’t be real!

During the 1940s, some scientists in Russia decided to test the effects of extreme sleep deprivation on the human brain. So they devised a horrifying plan. Lock five people in a tiny room and expose them to a gas stimulant that will keep them awake for 15 days.

However, the scientists needed willing participants and they were unlikely to find them out in the world so they took a group of political prisoners and promised them that they’d be freed if they were able to stay awake for 30 days. They lied.

The scientists would monitor the subjects through glass portholes in the doors and used a month’s worth of dried food supply to keep them nourished.

However, it looked like their plan would be for naught as for the first five days, very little happened.

By the ninth day, the first captive began screaming. He ran the length of the cell and screamed for three hours straight until he physically tore his vocal chords.

However, when their voices came over the intercom alerting them that they would be briefly let out, one single, chilling voice responded, ‘We no longer want to be freed.’
