In the heart of the bucolic county of Derbyshire, England, Gavin Munro tends to a unique crop: furniture.

These trees are being coaxed via a complex system of molds into taking on various shapes that will end up as furniture made without nails, glue or joins of any type—they will be connected via tree grafts.

Munro grows completely natural household furnishings by carefully pruning and grafting trees over the course of a decade.

Though the process requires patience, the beautiful results are both functional and sustainable.

Gavin’s fascination with trees and wood grew into a business when he moved to California.

He made his main living working as a gardener, but started to craft furniture from driftwood as a sideline.
