While this stunt may not be as wild as Shell’s 1997 airborne Ferrari F1 refueling in the desert, it involved just as much precision driving from the team, who will no doubt claim the world record once again.

BMW’s engineering bods have spent much time and money working out how to do in-skid refuelling. It involves two fully lit M5s and a very brave person wielding a fuel pump.

The first test run was a failure, and during the record attempt the pair of M5s did actually collide at one point. The last time BMW had the record for world’s longest drift was in 2013, when Schwartz went 51.3 miles in an M5.
