The huge bulge of soil exploded into the air after a high-pressure water pipe burst in the Ukrainian capital city of Kiev on Monday. The spectacular explosion left six square-metre hole in the ground as muddy water flooded the streets.
One woman can be seen walking as a huge shower of soil erupts into the air – shattering windows but incredibly leaving her unharmed.Eyewitness Olexandr Gusev said: “The burst pipe created a fountain that was seven stories high.”
The explosion reportedly happened after a high-pressure water pipe used to funnel hot water to housing complexes from central heating plants burst.Luckily, the pipe, which normally carries scalding water, was only filled with cold water when it exploded.Officials say they had been carrying out tests, which is why the water had not been heated.
