Woman Builds Breathtaking Sustainable Dome Home

Lisa Starr wanted to create a sustainable life for herself so she moved to Joshua Tree, California and built an Earthbag dome home that shoe now lives in called Bonita Domes.

Starr is a holistic health practitioner and drum maker who has made Joshua Tree her home and sees it as the perfect venue for her art and spiritual work. She lives in an earth bag home created with CalEarth technology.

Showcasing dome architecture made using available resources, the nonprofit CalEarth dome homes were designed as housing ideal for relief work, but also ideal for those following the “tiny living” philosophy.

Starr made her own home on the property as a spacious multi-pod design with distinct living, cooking and sleeping spaces. She is working on construction of her studio space for her work as a drum medicine woman.

To Starr, the construction of an earth bag dome is a spiritual and personal process. She is especially compelled by how mimics the medicine wheel in design. In all of her endeavors, she works on the discipline of finding peace.
