Worlds Oldest Gymnast is turning 90 Johanna Quaas

Guiness book world record holder for being the worlds oldest active gymnast is celebrating her 90 birthday this week. TheRollingShutter had the honor to meet here 3days before to accompany her for a few hours. here strength and agility was impressive and very hard to keep up with our cameras. One of the nicest persons we had the pleasure to meet so far.

The 11-times German Senior champion of artistic gymnastics, the 90 years old Johanna Quaas from Halle, Germany, is now the oldest active gymnast of the world!

Remarkably the retired PE teacher from Leipzig; Germany only began to train at gymnastics in her 50s taking part in her first competition at the age of 56.Born on the 20th of November 1925, Johanna has always been involved in sport dating her interest in keeping fit back to a childhood.

Because of her responsibilities as a mother and wife, she wasn’t able to dedicate herself to gymnastics until later.

Joanna has a strict exercise regime that involves a combination of running and yoga.
Johanna says “it is great feeling to be included and I hope the record inspires others to realise it’s never too late.”

This German gymnast has still remarkable skills even at 90 years old, as she tackles the bars with unbelievable balance and strength highly uncommon with women her age.
