There is a tropical island in Germany, but you can only find it in the most unlikely locale on the continent — an old, reconditioned airship hangar.
This is the aptly named Tropical Islands Resort in Brandenburg, Germany. It might not look like a sunny day at the beach, but just wait until you go inside.
Once you step inside the dome, you’re instantly transported to the tropics!
The usual temperature outside ranges between the 30s to the 60s, so having this island getaway is truly amazing.

The resort is located in a former airship hangar that has some pretty impressive dimensions.
Once named the Aerium, this hangar is 1,200 feet long, 700 feet wide, and 350 feet high.
In fact, it’s home to the largest indoor rainforest in the world.
