1954 Chevrolet Corvette Transitions Concept 546

The 1954 Chevrolet Corvette Custom “Transitions Concept 546” is a six year project that Larry Griffey of Griffey’s Hot Rods and Restorations brought to the 2017 Detroit Autorama. This car pays tribute to three cars that Chevrolet built to show where Corvette was heading back in the 1950’s. It started as a 1954 Chevrolet Corvette but it has had a TON of work done to it….And after building award winning car for clients for years. Larry finally has one of His own.

The modifications to the rear wheelwells and narrowing of the rearend allowed Griffey to fit 20x10s in the rear while a smaller set of 18x8s live up front. A staggered set of BFGoodrich G-Force Comp 2 tires were chosen for the Billet Specialties wheels and measure 255/45ZR20 and 225/40ZR18, respectively.

The body features a tapered body drop. 1″ was removed at the rear slowly increasing to 2 ¼” at the front. It was also widened 1 ¾” at the front growing to 3″ at the rear. The cowl and rear hatch areas were modified in order to fit a 1956 windscreen and hardtop. For increased safety, hidden steel reinforcements were mounted inside the body.

Ingenious illuminated side spears inform viewers of the supercharged power plant under the hood. Inside we find a custom interior that pays tribute the original 1954 Corvette and Motorama car. Cool ambient lighting emits from the doors and dash. Air conditioning and power windows keep passengers cool while cruising.
