This is a 2005 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited, better known as the LJ Wrangler. Before the 4-door Wrangler existed, we had the LJ, which was a longer version of the regular 2-door Wrangler, finally allowing people to carry both cargo AND passengers.

The Wrangler was actually updated from its sturdy off-road-capable design to be more comfortable and safer to drive on the road. That was probably the very thing that helped the lineup live and thrive over four generations. The Jeep Wrangler Unlimited boasted 10 inches of space between the front and the rear axles. It also extended 15 additional inches in overall length.

While the Jeep Wrangler Unlimited LJ used the same 4-liter inline-six engine and 4-speed automatic or 6-speed manual transmission as other models, its longer wheelbase was an advantage in several segments. With Dana 44 rear axles, a Command-Trac NV231 transfer case, and a 3.73 gear ratio, the LJ Wrangler handily earns its Trail Rated status.

Inside the cabin, customers fronted a modular dashboard, where the driver fronted a rectangular instrument cluster filled with dials for the 100-mph (168 kph) speedometer, a tachometer, and gauges for fuel level, voltage, coolant temperature, and oil pressure. The front seats were comfortable but mounted in the same spots as the regular TJ.
