The 2024 Ford Mustang GT California Special is a testament to Ford’s legacy of blending iconic design with modern aesthetics. This special edition Mustang, commemorating nearly six decades of the model’s history, is a tribute to the original 1968 California Special. It’s available in both fastback coupe and convertible models as part of the Mustang GT Premium range.

A key feature of this model is its distinct Rave Blue accents, which add a vibrant touch to the car’s exterior and interior. These accents are visible on the grille inlets, the car’s badges, and the wheels. The car’s exterior boasts a new horizontal-slat grille with low gloss black strakes, flanked by nostril intakes highlighted in Rave Blue. The 19-inch alloy wheels, available in two designs, feature this signature color, as do the GT and 5 point O badges on the trunk lid and front fenders. Adding to its striking appearance are unique graphics in Medium Light Rave Blue and High- and Low-Gloss Black on the lower body sides, and the headlights are surrounded by black bezels.

The interior of the California Special further showcases the Rave Blue theme. It includes perforated Navy Pier upholstery and Ebony Black leather seats with two-tone contrast stitching in Raptor Blue and Metal Grey, which extend to the dashboard, doors, center console, and steering wheel. The steering wheel is also dressed in Navy Pier and Ebony Black. The car’s interior is completed with a “California Special” badge on the dashboard and GT CS floor mats.

You can opt for either the Coupe or Convertible, with the six-speed manual or ten-speed automatic transmissions, but you’re locked to the Mustang GT Premium Fastback or Convertible versions – starting at $47,015 ($49,255 with the destination charges and acquisition fee) or $52,515 (net is $54,755), respectively. However, the California Special package is just $1,995 – and it fits snugly between the $4,995 GT Performance package and the $1,225 Active Valve Performance Exhaust.
