This is the new 2025 Hyundai Ioniq 5 XRT and it’s the “off-road” version of the Ioniq 5 electric crossover. I’m not entirely sure why Hyundai decided to make this, but it’s here and it’s weird. Today I’m reviewing this Ioniq 5 XRT, and I’ll show you the many quirks and features. I’m also going to get behind the wheel and show you what it’s like to drive.

The Ioniq 5 XRT has an increased capacity for its two battery pack options, now at 63.0 kWh or 84.0 kWh, up from 58.0 kWh or 77.4 kWh. The batteries are now charged via a built-in NACS port, the interface designed by Tesla that allows for ready use of its Supercharger stations.

Hyundai equips the Ioniq 5 XRT with its dual-motor all-wheel-drive powertrain that is good for 320 hp and 446 lb-ft of torque. It also gets the 2025 model’s larger-capacity battery pack that comes standard with dual-motor and long-range models.

Inside, the 2025 Ioniq 5 features a revised center console with a relocated wireless charging pad, plus an updated climate control touch panel, both welcome and effective improvements. The rest of the driving dynamics are like other Ioniq 5s: overly light steering without much feel, a ride that doesn’t beat you up, and predictable brakes. The XRT could use some of the Ioniq 5 N’s tuning to add more road or sand feel.Base Price $55,400.
