The 1,055-hp McLaren Speedtail is a hypercar unlike any other on the market. Not only is it the only production car capable of reaching a blistering 250 mph, but it also shares the iconic cockpit layout of McLaren’s legendary F1, featuring a centered driving position flanked by two rear passenger seats.

The McLaren Speedtail is amazing and it’s the coolest modern hypercar, in my opinion. Today I’m reviewing the McLaren Speedtail, and I’m going to show you all the quirks and features of the Speedtail — and then I’m going to drive the Speedtail and review the driving experience. This is a car shaped for performance. With a design that draws on the way the natural world has adapted forms to create the ultimate in stealth and speed.
This is automotive design innovation on a new level. This is the Speedtail. Wheels create turbulence. As they spin, they push disrupted air away from the vehicle. This increases drag and ultimately slows a car down. Not so with the Speedtail. It features lightweight carbon fibre front wheel aero covers incorporated into the 20″ alloys. The covers do not rotate with the wheel but stay fixed in place. This creates a flat surface that smooths airflow.

It actually keeps the passing air snug to the body of the car. The twin-turbo 4.0-liter V-8, paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, and the Speedtail’s advanced suspension system make this a machine profoundly built for speed. Remarkably, the V-8 delivers just 70 percent of the McLaren Speedtail’s total power, with the rest supplied by an axial flux electric motor powered by the most power-dense battery ever installed in a road car.
