This leather steering wheel from a Lancer Evolution 9 had seen better days and was due for leather repair OR a rewrap cover. I found an affordable Japanese Suede steering wheel wrap with red stitching and decided to transform this wheel myself!

It would have cost hundreds to restitch the leather from scratch and preferred to attempt the DIY rewrap method and show you how to install it. Auto Interior Technic makes an awesome steering wheel kit (and full interior kit) for the Evo 8 and Evo 9.

For less than $100 I was able to get the Japanese Suede wheel kit with the red stitching and red center stripe. I have NEVER sewn anything in my life, so his was truly a DIY first attempt. And if I can do this, you can do this. You can choose between Suede or Alcantara, with plenty of stitching color options!
