The ENV is an electric motorcycle prototype powered by a hydrogen fuel cell. It was developed by Intelligent Energy, a British company. The vehicle and the fuel cell centre respectively weigh approximately 80 and 20 kilograms.

The ENV H2 motorcycle uses CORE cell technology, which contains the hydrogen and battery components in one unit and is removable from the motorcycle. The Intelligent Energy ENV, with its 6kW, 48 volt motor and 1kw fuel cell, has a top speed of 50 mph and a range of 100 miles. The speed and range are expected to be increased by the time the ENV reaches its production version.

The Discovery Channel has indicated it can reach approximately 80 km/h and, on a full tank may ride continuously for about 4 hours and travel a distance of 160 kilometres. The motorcycle is a preproduction prototype, which was targeted to sell for approximately $6000.

The CORE is completely detachable from the bike, and is capable of powering anything from a motorboat to a small domestic property. The bike’s primary frame and swinging arm are made from hollow-cast aircraft grade aluminum.

There are actually two of the firm’s AC32-48 fuel cells inside Core, with a 15 Ah, 48 V lead-acid battery for load levelling. The ENV carries 2.4 kWh worth of hydrogen in a high-pressure composite cylinder, and refueling is said to take five minutes.
