Let’s take a world’s first look at the brand new Gunther Werks GWR! Join me in Huntingdon Beach, California, for a walkaround of Gunther Werks’ remastered 993, creating a ‘GT3 RS’ meets ‘911 Cup’ that’s road legal. We’ll take in all the details; design, engine, interior and more, let’s check it out!

Following the first Gunther Werks remastered 993, and then the successive Speedster and Turbo models, the 4th is the GWR – Gunther Werks Race. Limited to just 40 cars, taking the original 993 chassis but effectively creating the entire rest of the car including carbon fibre body panels from scratch.

Powered by a Rothsport 4.0l NA flat-6, the GWR produces over 500bhp and 340lbs-ft, mated to a 6-speed manual, and carrying a weight of just 2,400lbs (1,090kg). There are new features beyond earlier Gunther Werks models; an updated dashboard, latest generation seat, and some exceptional, bespoke details.

After a preview of GWR, we’re able to take a look around the Gunther Werks facility, and see some of the stages that go into producing these exceptionally unique vehicles. The GWR is being shown to the world at Quail during Car Week 2024, and no doubt is in line for quite the reception!
