In this video I’m going to show you how I built my own electric buggy from start to finish, and how it drives. I set up chapters in the video so you can skip to the drive footage if you’ve already watched the build series. If you haven’t seen the series yet, I linked to each episode below so you can check them out if you want more details.

There’s 10 episodes altogether, not including videos of the tools that I had to make along the way, so I had to leave a lot of things out of this video.

The ME1616 motor is a 55 kW brushless, liquid cooled PMSM. Connected to it via a 530 chain and 4.78:1 sprocket ratio is a 2007 Honda CR-V rear differential with matching cv axles.

The battery will be LiFePo4 and somewhere between 10-12 kWh @ 96V, depending on how many parallel connections I can squeeze into the space that I’ve allowed for it. With regenerative braking and a total expected curb weight of 750 lbs, that should provide close to 200 km’s of range per charge in the trails.
