When that happens, the only responsible move is to tear the engine down and get it ready to fight another day — even if it’s not heading back into the little roadster it came from.They spent a total of 15 days shooting and editing 2500 photos of the little roadster’s four-cylinder engine being taken apart to create the video below.
This time-lapse video, uploaded by the YouTube channel How a Car Works, shows every moving part of the Miata engine doing its job before being removed from the block: the crankshaft spins, the pistons cycle and the camshafts open valves.
The 2-minute stop-motion movie only covers the teardown but is shot cinematically enough to warrant a sequel — the assembly. We don’t know if it’s in the works, but it’d be better than a most of the sequels hitting the big screen today.
