4Runner delivers serious performance with an available i-FORCE MAX 2.4L turbocharged hybrid EV powertrain. Providing up to 326 net combined horsepower and 465 lb.-ft. of torque, 4Runner moves quicker than ever, while its 8-speed automatic transmission and 6,000-lb. max towing capacity * help you go harder than before.
A hybrid model with 326 horsepower is also offered, but we review that model separately. Toyota has retained the customary roll-down rear window, and the new 4Runner’s exterior design remains square-jawed, handsome, and rugged. Filled with tech to enhance your drives, 4Runner will always keep you at the helm of adventure.

The SUV takes a big technological leap inside, especially on the top trims which get a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster and a 14.0-inch infotainment display. Toyota offers 4Runner buyers the choice of rear-wheel drive (2WD), part-time four-wheel drive (4WD), or full-time 4WD, plus two engines/drivetrains. The I-Force Max hybrid powertrain is available on the upper trims, while the base engine is a turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder.
