Celebrating the pinnacle of craftsmanship and embodying an expressive, cool design refined to the last detail, the new BMW #R20concept will make its world debut at the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este. This motorcycle highlights top-tier craftsmanship and a sleek, detailed design, featuring the iconic air-oil cooled Big Boxer engine as a central element.

Markus Flasch, Head of BMW Motorrad, describes the concept as “a mechanical masterpiece. The concept motorcycle is centered around a 2000cc boxer twin engine, featuring new cylinder head covers, a new belt cover, and a new oil cooler.

Holding the engine is a double-loop main frame made of chrome-molybdenum steel tubes, resulting in a minimalist, single-seat look. 17-inch wheels are fitted on both ends of the bike, with a 200mm section tire on the rear. With a 61-inch wheelbase, the R20 concept falls right in between its R nineT and R18 brethren in the dimensions department.

Radially mounted ISR brake calipers, with six pistons at the front and four at the rear, provide strong braking power. The 2-in-2 exhaust system delivers a distinctive sound. Visually BMW is keeping the R 20 simple, with an aluminum fuel tank that echoes BMWs of the past, plus a cast-aluminum subframe to support the single seat.
Up front there’s a modern play on the traditional, circular headlight, achieved by placing a ring of DRLs around a small, central main LED. The BMW R20 concept is a motorcycle that impresses with a powerful appearance in a casual gentleman style, while fulfilling typical attributes of BMW Motorrad: classic design and excellent engineering combined with thrilling mechanics.
