Running Diesel Engine Underwater Experiment

I Attempt to run a Diesel Engine underwater for the first time, DIesel engines run almost no matter what, almost any place and any coditions so I want to see if a diesel engine will actually run underwater.

What I didn’t account for is that I didn’t see any air bubbles underwater because the exhaust and the intake ports were above water, so I’m assuming what happened is the water went into the engine and all of the air that was displaced went out of the intake through the turbo or out through the exhaust which were both above the water. Watch the video from Warped:

And even though the entire engine was completely full of water after draining the water the engine just started right back up. Nothing beats a Diesel.

Sealing the engine’s crankcase, electronics, and other sensitive parts is crucial. Water can damage or stop the engine if it enters the combustion chambers or other components. The engine needs a supply of air for combustion. During “snorkeling,” a submarine extends a snorkel mast above the surface to draw in air, which then passes to the engine. The engine uses fuel to create power. The exhaust gases are released under the water’s surface.
