Meet the Boomerang: a one-of-a-kind experimental aircraft designed by Burt Rutan and maintained and operated by the Aerocrafted team. The Boomerang’s striking design is apparent from its first impression, but even more impressive is the engineering that fueled its appearance. The basic goal: create an aircraft that is both efficient and safe.

The solution: placing the engines closer together than a normal twin engine, which results in a unique asymmetrical design. The Boomerang represented a significant increase in performance, efficiency, excellent general flying qualities and engine-out safety. At first glance the configuration appeared as though it could never fly straight but in the air it is more symmetric than any “conventional” twin.
This RC Boomerang model, is really very impressive. At 1/3.5 scale, it looks like that’ll work out to a little over a 15″ wingspan certainly big enough to look pretty fantastic while flying. The model plane flying characteristics are pretty realistic too.

This rc airplane has a wingspan of 3.2m, a lenght of 2.8m and it weights 24.9kg. The airplane is powered by two gasoline tiny engines. The landing gears are equipped with electric brakes as well as an electric retract system that takes 15 seconds to cycle. The pilot of this airplane on this video is Gerhard Grambow at the Airliner Meeting in Oppingen Germany July 2024 event.
