Torsus Praetorian 4×4 Heavy-Duty All-Terrain Bus

The Torsus Praetorian is 4×4 heavy-duty all-terrain bus which is designated to set new standards for off-road buses. A bus that, due to its numerous modifications, perfectly meets customer requirements in different sectors – from mining to tourism. t is manufactured by Torsus, a Czech company, set up by Ukrainians Vakhtang Dzukashvili and Yulia Khomich as a subsidiary of their Pulsar Expo company.

It can seat up to 35 people, has 400 mm (16 in) of ground clearance, and has a 6.9-liter (420 cu in) six-cylinder diesel engine. The off-road bus is suited to specific industries such as oil and gas, forestry, mining, disaster and emergency response, expeditions, safaris, and ski resorts. The Praetorian is built in partnership with MAN and can be serviced at MAN’s service centres.

At 28.5 feet long, 8.3 feet wide, and 11.8 feet tall, the Praetorian comes in somewhere between an EarthCruiser EXP and an EarthRoamer HD in terms of its footprint. The Praetorian has been developed around a MAN powerplant and drivetrain. Its straight-six diesel engine produces 290 horsepower and an impressive 682 pound-feet of torque.

Power transfer is managed by a MAN/ZF 12AS 1210 OD MAN Tip-Matic semi-automatic transmission. The heavy-duty, 4×4 transmission allows it to climb 65% incline (roughly one in three) ‘easily’. On the outside, military-grade, elastomeric a material that returns to its original shape after experiencing force panels provide durability and impact resistance.

Inside, the interior has been improved to make all 35 passengers more comfortable. There is also a front differential lock, although selecting this restricts the front wheels’ steering angle. Torsus claims a 32 degree approach angle, 26 degree departure angle, and minimum ground clearance of 13.4 inches beneath the axles.
