Featuring advanced new technology, the TY-E has come straight from the company’s “Evolving R&D” programme, in which Yamaha R&D employees are given the opportunity to work outside conventional frameworks and devote up to 5% of their working hours towards developing innovative new concepts.

The TY-E is powered by a high rotation-type compact electric motor and is equipped with a mechanical clutch. The electric bike uses a high-output battery pack that is mounted in its carbon-fiber-reinforced plastic (CFRP) monocoque frame.

The trial bike features a CFRP composite monocoque frame that helps keep its overall weight less than 70 kg (154 lbs). Without having the range worries of a road bike the battery requires fewer cells for an acceptable operating range.
The 116v Lithium-ion battery powers an AC synchronous electric motor, chosen for its control at low speeds as well as power.The high rotation-type compact high-power electric motor offers both powerful low-speed torque and extended acceleration.
