The 2.5-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine with a hybrid electric motor and e-CVT gearbox is standard equipment on all Maverick models, while the 2.0-liter EcoBoost turbocharged four-cylinder gasoline engine is optional.

The turbo engine produces 245 hp (248 PS; 183 kW) and 275 lb⋅ft (373 N⋅m; 38.0 kg⋅m) of torque, paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission. All Maverick models uses a rotary knob gear selector located in the center console.
