I was given some black poplar logs to mill but had no way of getting them on my truck so I came up with this simple winch/rail loading system, wrapping the winch cable around the logs & back to the deck doubles the pulling power of the winch. The logs are freshly cut so still quite heavy, the bigger log would have weighed more than a ton but the winch lifted it easily.

This guy came up with a simple winch/rail loading system, which is actually genius.It is a good idea – just wrap the winch cable around the logs and back to the deck, doubling the pulling power of the winch and he loads the heavy logs, seems easy.
Not only did he double the winch force, but he also decreased the force necessary by using an incline. As you can see, the bigger log might have weighed more than a ton, but the winch lifted it easily.

Manual labor takes a lot of time and human effort but this genius wrapped the winch cable around the log and simply turned on the winch to quickly load a heavy wood on his truck. Not only it saves human labor, but it also looks quite cool.
