The Mosquito ultralight helicopter is one of the best known ultralight rotary wing platforms on the market. It is a high performance, single seat, conventional helicopter with a single main rotor and tail rotor.
The Mosquito helicopter is an embodiment of freedom and adventure, offering a unique flying experience to those who dare to take the controls. The mosquito’s ultralight helicopter airframe is a unibody construction made entirely of high quality fiberglass in a vinyl-ester matrix.
The aircraft was designed to comply with the US Experimental – Amateur-built and European microlight aircraft rules. It features a single main rotor and tail rotor, a single-seat enclosed cockpit with a windshield, skid landing gear and a two-cylinder, air-cooled, two stroke 64 hp (48 kW) MZ 202 engine.
The primary reduction is bolted directly to the engine. A centrifugal clutch on the engine crankshaft permits startup of the engine without the load of the rotor. Power is transmitted from the clutch to the driven pulley of the reduction through an HTD cog belt, one of the highest power to weight ratio power transmission methods available. With its ability to take off and land in smaller spaces compared to traditional helicopters, the Mosquito opens up new possibilities for exploration and adventure.
