Recycled Bedsheets Make The Best Waterproof Tarps

In this video I show an easy way to make your own silicone waterproofing and use it to make fabric tarps. Overall, it is a better way to waterproof most materials than the store bought aerosol silicone waterproofing.

Another great application of this project is waterproofing a backpack or any other bag. Pretty neat video on an easy way to make waterproof fabric using common hardware store bought material.

From the video NightHawkInLight says to find the volume of your bed sheets and use 3/4 of that volume in solvent “naphtha”. Then using a ratio of 5:1 “Naphtha-Silicone” combine until the silicone is dissolved into a maple syrup consistency and soak your bed sheet in it. Hang to dry for a day and you have a waterproof fabric tarp.
