The Suborbital Accelerator is designed to operate from 800 to 5,000 mph and acts primarily as a test-bed for the Orbital Launch System. On October 22nd, 2021, our first launch successfully propelled a test vehicle at supersonic speeds and ended with the recovery of the reusable flight vehicle.
The velocity boost provided by the accelerator’s electric drive results in a 4x reduction in the fuel required to reach orbit, a 10x reduction in cost, and the ability to launch multiple times per day. First customer launches are planned for late 2024.
