As the name suggests, the idea for Roborace is to have a field of fully automated, robotic cars that race against one another ahead of the human-driven Formula E races.The world’s first driverless electric racing car.

Designed by Daniel Simon, known for his work on Hollywood Sci-Fi phenomena such as Tron:Legacy, Oblivion and Captain America.Roborace, the company behind the self-driving racecar, uploaded Robocar’s hill climb run on its official YouTube channel.

Roborace has completed the first official autonomous hillclimb at Goodwood by a race car, with Robocar successfully navigating the 1.16-mile course using artificial intelligence. This milestone moment took place at the 2018 Festival of Speed, the 25th anniversary of the storied event.

Roborace provides the car with an API as a platform for teams who then add their AI driver algorithm to the vehicle. Development of the automated driving system for the Robocar at Goodwood was led by ARRIVAL, the automotive technology company. Roborace is the world’s first competition for human + machine teams, using both self-driving and manually-controlled cars.
