When drains get clogged up, traditionally you have only a few choices: a plunger or drain snake that physically removes the clog, or some kind of caustic, toxic chemical. Even a plumber will either use a plunger, snake or chemical to clear your drain.

Whenever you have drain issues you are stuck with gross bathtubs and sinks that just slowly gather every little hair, dirt ball, and other nasty stuff that’s floating around. Thankfully, making your own “draino” is easy. In fact, unclogging your drain doesn’t require harsh or toxic chemicals.
Hundreds of natural cleaning blog posts, books, and magazine columns recommend cleaning slow kitchen drains by pouring one cup of baking soda down the drain followed with one cup vinegar.

Here’s how to unclog a blocked drain without garsh chemicals:
1. Stir the baking powder and salt until they’re mixed well.
2. Pour the mixture into the clogged drain. In order to measure it out better, try filling an unused sugar dispenser with the mix, or sticking a small funnel into the drain in question.
3. Now pour the warm vinegar in, followed by hot water.
4. Now the blockage should be clear and the sink will drain again properly.
You’ll need:
¾ cup baking powder
¾ cup salt
⅔ cup warm vinegar
hot water
