Equipment includes a Dynon Skyview glass panel avionics system, an airframe parachute, and an optional autopilot. The Transition can reach heights of 9,000 feet, allowing the two passengers to literally soar above traffic.
The Terrafugia Transition is powered by a Rotax 100hp engine and cruise speed is expected to be in the 100 mph range. your travel distance on a flunk? expect to fly up to 400 miles. When in airplane mode, you have control sticks to maneuver the aircraft.
When operated as a car, the engine power take-off near the propeller engages a variable-diameter pulley CVT automatic transmission to send power to the trailing-suspension mounted rear wheels via half-shafts powering belt drives. In flight, the engine drives a pusher propeller. The Transition has folding wings and a twin tail.
